| The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is a world renown sailing event that attracts competitors from all around the globe. The event begins in Sydney on Boxing Day and ends at Consitution Dock on the Derwent River a couple of days later (although many of the smaller boats will continue to arrive in Hobart for a number of days after the first boat crosses the finish line). There are a few different places along the waterfront to watch the yachts from including Sandown Park, Wrest Point Casino, Sandy Bay and Battery Point. The hotel, motel and apartment accommodation in Hobart will book out very early for this special event, so it is important that you get in early if you are coming to Hobart between Boxing Day and New Years Day. |

HOW TO GET THERE
In you want to get to Consitution Dock to see the yachts racing up the Derwent River to the finish line then the best way to do this is to drive into the Waterfront precinct or Salamanca area and park in the ample car parking that is available around the area. Due to the fact that this yacht race is held in a tradional holiday period there is not a lot of traffic around the Hobart city centre, so driving is a good option. Alternatively you could catch a bus to the city from wherever your Hobart accommodation is as there are various bus services operating during these dates. |
